the heart what the heart wants

I just previously posted that I was in fashion rut, but the new arrivals for shop.bamboosky.com has knocked the nonsense right back into me, where it belongs and should always stay, if I'm ever to maintain my sanity.

At the threshold

As of late, I've been in sort of a plateaued state of fashion. Neither here, nor there. I always want, want, want new things, but never NEED, NEED, NEED them. Being a blogger can be depressing sometimes, because there's so much inspiration out there that nurtures, my shop-a-holism like an evil drug. So it's like a bad come down, when your wallet can no longer keep up with the jones. Or worse, when your sensible conscience finally breaks through the threshold of "evil" to tell you, "Enough is enough you crazed, mad woman!" I think I'm the point of another good closet cleaning. I need to really figure out my most coveted style of the moment and stick to it for a while instead of trying to keeping up with ALL the styles I like.

**Disclaimer: This is just one moment of clarity at this specific moment. I may….no, no, no I probably will regret this attempt to control my urges, so please don't hold it against me, should I happen to have something new on in my next post. However, things from my own store don't count as "new".

As much as it may seem that I love to go out, I really hate to. However, when I'm out, I AM OUT!!! Something just comes over me (probably the wine, most likely the crown) Anyway, a last minute night out to see an old friend (Maile, aka "Doll Face") was the motivation behind the unexpected shennanigans that follow. Whom with, by the way, I really didn't get to catch up with due to the young, over zealous kiddies bumping and grinding all around us. Next time a quiet dinner will be in order for a sincere catch up. That's also why Linh and I ended up behind the DJ both all night long. I don't think we can keep up with the young bucks anymore so we made our very own private "adult" playground.

But first dinner at Ichiriki.

At Ka, being rascals.

Also went to a wedding this weekend. Pulled out another special dress. I love it when I have a reason to wear all the fancy sh*t I buy.

Since we were at a wedding, you can certainly expect me to post the following cheese…
The happy couple!
The Breedens

The Chans

We had an amazing spread, but the fresh poke, cold beer and boiled peanuts was my favorite. Doesn't get any more local than this... freak'n love it!!!!

Thank my lucky stars

This Friday, I pulled out a special dress to celebrate a very special day. I had this velvet burnout caftan by American Gold hanging in the closet for a while now, but never had a worthy enough reason to debut it until this weekend for Shane's birthday! As I blogged before, I love velvet burnout. Shane does not. While I gleam with pride over the blousy fit and "grandma's curtain" fringe hem, Shane shakes his head in disapproving silence. Yet, he still eagerly takes pictures of me in this controversially unsexy caftan for my blog. I thank my lucky stars that he tolerates and supports my unusual fashion choices. And I thank them even more for this day, September 18th, the day the love of my life was born.
Also, debuting new wedges by Jeffrey Campbell. My new favorite of the moment.
We had dinner with the Dangs at Shane's favorite restaurant, Gaku.

Below, the birthday wish that didn't come true this year. Sorry babe, maybe next year. Or the year after. Or probably the year after that one. Maybe.
Love this headband, but it's so tight it gave me a bruise on my forehead. What's a little pain for the sake of fashion, right?

boho to grunge

Skipping right over the 80's, I've recently been embracing to all things 90's grunge. Still loving the 70's boho hippie-ness, but now with a little more bad ass-ness added to the mix. Hence the combat boots (an ode Doc Martins, as I really can't see myself in the OG ones. Too literal) and the leopard tights (as in, I'm in 7th grade going to my first Kiss concert)
